    Note: The paper setter is required to set ten questions from five units, two questions from each
    unit. Candidate is required to attempt five questions in all selecting one question from each unit.
    All questions carry equal marks.

    UNIT: I
    􀁸 Meaning and Definition of research , Characteristics of good research, Need of
    Research in Physical Education and Sports, Fundamental Versus Applied
    Research, Nature of Research in Physical Education and Sports, Scope Research
    in Physical Education and Sports, Qualities of a good research worker.

    UNIT-II
    􀁸 The Problem: Definition, selection of Problem.
    􀁸 Personal Criteria, Social Criteria, Research Criteria, Locating Problem, Problem
    areas in Physical Education and Sports.

    UNIT: III
    􀁸 Research Literature: Location of the research material. Indexes, books,
    bibliographic,
    reviews and Abstracts, Critical literature and allied literature.
    􀁸 Steps in reviewing literature (note taking, scanning and skimming), Reference and
    foot notes, Direct and indirect library sources.

    UNIT: IV
    􀁸 Tools of Research: Observation, Interviews, questionnaires, opinionaires or
    attitude scales,
    􀁸 Psychological Tests and Personality Inventories, Type of Psychological Tests,
    Sports specific Psychological Tests, Sociometric Techniques, Photography and
    cinematography.

    UNIT: V
    􀁸 What is Sampling, Selection of sample, the concept of Randomness, Type of
    Samples, Size of the Sample, and Theory of sampling.
    􀁸 Hypothesis: Meaning, importance, Sources, types
    (Declarative, Probable and questions) form, Characteristics of good hypothesis.
